"TAKE C.A.R.E." was the motto of DMEXCO 2018, with the focus on relevant content for everyone. A good reason for us to participate in this year's Unilever Foundry Start-up Hatch Pitch in addition to a larger trade fair stand. Because the odoscope platform enables just that: individually relevant content for every user!
DMEXCO took place on September 12 and 13, 2018. Once again this year, large and small companies, agencies and service providers gathered in Cologne for one of the largest industry events in Europe on the subject of digital marketing. A total of around 1,000 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors came to the 10th anniversary, who were able to gather information and exchange ideas on around 100,000 m2 in six halls.
Many conversations and enthusiastic faces
Immediately after DMEXCO had opened its doors, our local colleagues had their first conversations. Many people were intensely interested in how they could eliminate the operative blind spot of their e-business with situational personalization. Our innovative approach of situationalization of digital touchpoints (e.g. online shops, media or games) was enthusiastically received.
On the second day of DMEXCO more business cards were exchanged and follow-up appointments arranged. In addition, interested visitors were able to test our live demo on a touch screen on site and thus dive deeper into the possibilities of our platform. This made for enthusiastic faces among the visitors to our stand. But there was also another reason for our team to be enthusiastic.
Our trade fair team finished off the DMEXCO with a few cold drinks.
The pitch in the Startup Village
Immediately on the first day, right after the lunch break, there was literally a lot on the plate again: odoscope had the opportunity to pitch in the Startup Village. Our CEO Ralph Hünermann travelled from the Haniel Leadership Lab in Duisburg at short notice. In a 10-minute pitch, he presented our unique, Stanford-proven solution for the situationalization of digital touchpoints to the audience and the jury.
Ralph convinced with his pitch in this preliminary round and was able to assert himself against 4 other pitches. This gave him the opportunity to present on the second day of DMEXCO on the big stage in the Debate Hall.
Ralph won the pitch in the Startup Village against 4 competitors and got the chance to pitch on the Debate Stage on the second day of the trade fair.
A total of 20 companies were invited to the preliminary pitch round. The application was made via a video explaining who we are, what our business model is and why we should win the Unilever Foundry Start-up Hatch.
Here's our creative application video:

After the successful pitch on the smaller Startup Village stage the pitch on the big stage in the Debate Hall followed on Thursday. We competed against Adbonitas, quantilope and MeasureMatch for a prize money of 15.000 Euro. The whole odoscope team shared the excitement during the live broadcast in the office or on site at the fair.
The pitch was limited to a total of ten minutes: Five minutes of presentation time and five minutes of follow-up questions from the jury. The jury consisted of one member from each of the following organisations: Unilever Foundry, Project A, Lakestar and Zum goldenen Hirschen.

Unfortunately we couldn't win this final pitch despite Ralph's good performance. But we belong to the best 4 out of 20 competitors and hundreds of submissions in the run-up. Therefore we are almost bursting with pride!
